What Does Myrcene Do?
This is a monoterpene which means that it is the ground zero for the manufacturing of other terpenes. It is found that cannabis strains with more than 0.05% Myrcene have more sedative, couch locking effects while those that fall below that percentage have a more psychoactive reputation. Myrcene actually influences an endogenous opiod system in the body which is thought to be why it can create such valued pain relieving, heavy effects.
Myrcene is one of the most researched terpenes and separate studies have concluded anti inflammatory and in high doses anti-insomnia effects. It also helps other cannabinoids pass through the blood brain barrier which maximizes the effects of whatever marijuana strain we chose that day. The last super cool thing that myrcene can do is maximize the saturation level of the endocannabinoid system’s CB1 receptor.
Analgesic: Relieves pain.
Antibacterial: Slows bacterial growth.
Anti-Diabetic: Helps mitigate the effects of diabetes.
Anti-inflammatory: Reduces inflammation systemically.
Anti-Insomnia: Aids with sleep.
Anti-Proliferative/Anti-Mutagenic: Inhibits cell mutation, including cancer cells.
Antipsychotic: Tranquilizing effects relieve symptoms of psychosis.
Antispasmodic: Suppresses muscle spasms.
For a long time now I’ve been very intrigued by the chakra system, specifically the role that colors play in chakra healing. Chakra means wheel in sanskrit which refers to the rotation of the energy center. This rotation takes place at the energy frequency that relates to a specific color. These chakra wheels are placed up the spine from the perineum to the crown of the head and progress in rainbow order.
Each vortex of spinning energy conducts a frequency that works off of specific physiological and neurological systems in the body. Chakras can be overactive, underachieve, and even blocked completely; this will mess up the flow of energy through the body. Balancing the chakras can be as easy as changing the music we listen to, the food we eat, and even the clothes we wear. When we wear one color quite a bit, that could mean that we have overactive energy in that vortex. Similarly, if we want to charge a chakra it’s ideal to add more of the corresponding color to our wardrobe.
The idea of wearing colored glasses to charge the chakra system isn’t a new one, but it is an ingenious one. Chakra charging by looking at the entire world through that color is a powerful way to accomplish a task that generally takes a long, slow investment of time. RainbowOPTX understands this power and has created super cute sunglasses that are also meant to charge our chakra systems empowering us to change for the better. Lately I’ve been starting my own business and have been really scared to just DO IT, so the yellow ‘I Do’ frames from RainbowOPTX felt like the best way to go.
For Fall I’m pairing my RainbowOPTX Round Yellow specs with my Patagonia beanie, vintage bomber jacket, and vintage band tees.
I’ve been wearing them for almost exactly a month and in that time I have completely turned around my finances and started to be on top of my work for the first time since I went freelance full time. That kind of power is a big step for me in this venture, and I can’t help but chalk some of it up to these frames that are meant to charge the Solar Plexus chakra. Yellow is meant to stimulate our mental faculties and help us maintain a happy, open outlook on the world. Balancing this chakra helps us to open ourselves to a zest for life making these glasses useful for those who suffer from depression. This accessory can help awaken our optimism, our confidence, and our happiness while also making everything just look super upbeat and happy. I loved wearing them and a girl at the gas station actually exclaimed, “Those are sick glasses!!” which made me feel happy.
I also chose the Violet glasses and will write up on those later in the month. For now I’m stoked on these cute yellow ones. Which RainbowOPTX glasses would you choose? Do you believe in chakra healing? Tell me everything in the comments.
My kindergarten class was surrounded by eucalyptus trees and I remember the smell meaning that I would get to play. On to university where I played collegiate soccer. In August we did a fun little ritual called double days where we’d practice in early AM and in the afternoon. There was about 1-3 weeks that were sweltering hot and generally the two weeks of double days fell on them. I don’t remember being too angered or tired, I just remember the immensely glorious smell that came off of the eucalyptus trees that surrounded our field when the sun shone brightly on them. Eucalyptus have been following me around my whole life and I’ve welcomed the aroma with open arms. After doing some more research on the essential oil, I’ve realized that it is a powerful anti-bacterial that can be used for countless things. Let’s dig deeper.
Breakdown of Eucalyptus:
Scientific Name: Eucalyptus [aka: gum tree]

How Does It Work: Eucalyptus is made hundreds of compounds, to me the pinene and limonene struck a chord with me. These properties surely help to relieve stress and promote an energized feeling. Studies have shown that it may have an antibacterial effect on pathogenic bacteria in the upper respiratory tract. Other studies show that it has a physiological responses that may relieve joint and muscle pain. In the mouth it fights against tooth decay and periodontopathic bacteria. It also promotes the natural immune response of the body. It has a wide array of effects which can be garnered by ingesting, inhaling and topically applying the leaf or essential oil.
What Do I Do With It: Inhaling the essential oil can stimulate and regenerate a sluggish mind, use a diffuser or incense. Creating a vapor for inhalation can also relax and relieve inflammation of the respiratory tract and relieve pain in this area. Massaging the oil on skin can also relieve muscle and joint pain. It is a vasodilator so ingesting it can lower blood sugar, ingesting also removes any germs or bad bacteria in the intestines. The oil can even be added to homemade soaps and cleaners for it’s anti fungal and antibacterial properties. Purchase an essential oil or make an oil from the freshly gathered leaves of the eucalyptus tree.
